Joe has been the resident drummer at N’awlins Jazz Bar for the past eight years, as well as playing at Joe Mama’s with Blackburn and Shugga.  You can find him at N'awlins every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

He has written the soundtracks for three of filmmaker Nathalie Younglai’s short films, including her latest short doc for Smile Theatre.

Joe also finds creative outlet by composing and arranging/mixing music.

One of the highlights of 2011 was Joe’s performance in Syncopation: Life in the Key of Black Gala Concert, a fundraiser for the Archie Alleyne Scholarship fund.

Joe performed in multiple episodes of the Showtime hit series, Soul Food and CanStage’s 2009 production of Ain’t Misbehavin’.

Joe then pursued his Music degree and Business diploma at Humber College. Since then, he has worked with some of Toronto’s top jazz, R&B and pop artists:  Divine Brown, Alana Bridgewater, Maestro Fresh Wes, Jackie Richardson, Rich Kidd and Dave Young, to name a few.

A drummer, composer and arranger, Joe spent his formative years in the projects of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Joe moved to Toronto in the 80’s to pursue his music career.  He toured with Salome Bey from ’84-’88, which included a performance at Expo ’86 in Vancouver.  He also performed at the ’99 Barbados Jazz Festival, which featured Wynton and Brandford Marsalis, Regina Belle and Luther Vandross.

Joe Bowden took to the drums over three decades ago and hasn't stopped keeping the beat ever since.
